Expression-invariant Non-rigid 3D Face Recognition: A Robust Approach to Expression-aware Morphing
نویسندگان
چکیده
An automatic approach to the recognition of 3D face under any facial expression is presented. It has the capacity to differentiate between expression deformations, those which are caused by expressions, and interpersonal disparities that are essential for recognition. When two facial scans are matched the expression deformations are morphed out before similarity measure calculation while the interpersonal disparities are retained. A combination of PCA and ICP is used in our system. The PCA subspace is built in such a way it models the facial expressions while it does not model the human face. The approach was applied on the FRGC v2.0 dataset and superior recognition performance was achieved. The verification rates at 0.001 FAR were 98.35% and 97.73% for scans under neutral and non-neutral expressions, respectively.

Hybridization of Facial Features and Use of Multi Modal Information for 3D Face Recognition
Despite of achieving good performance in controlled environment, the conventional 3D face recognition systems still encounter problems in handling the large variations in lighting conditions, facial expression and head pose The humans use the hybrid approach to recognize faces and therefore in this proposed method the human face recognition ability is incorporated by combining global and local ...

Traditional automatic face morphing techniques tend to generate blurry intermediate frames when the two input faces differ significantly. We propose a new face morphing approach that deals explicitly with large pose and expression variations. We recover the 3D face geometry of the input images using a projection on a prelearned 3D face subspace. The geometry is interpolated by factoring the exp...

MIAO, SHUN. 3D Face Recognition From Range Image. (Under the direction of Professor Hamid Krim). In this thesis, we explore the statistical and geometrical behavior of the uncontrolled parameters of a human face, including both the rigid transform caused by a head pose and the non-rigid transform caused by a facial expression. We focus on developing a 3D facial recognition scheme which is robus...

The recognition performance of the conventional 3D face recognition algorithm using ICP (Iterative Closest Point) is degraded for the 3D face data with expression changes. Addressing this problem, we consider the use of the expression-invariant local regions of a face. We find the expression-invariant regions through the distance analysis between 3D face data with the neutral expression and smi...

Achieving high accuracy in the presence of expression variation remains one of the most challenging aspects of 3D face recognition. In this paper, we propose a novel recognition approach for robust and efficient matching. The framework is based on shape processing filters that divide face into three components according to its frequency spectral. Low-frequency band mainly corresponds to express...
